This chapter analysis the origin of the subprime crisis which has developed into a worldwide depression. This origin can be found in the "affordable housing" pollicy pursued by American governments going back into the ninties. The easy money policy of the FED between 2002 and 2005 is also responsible of creating the housing boom which busted in 2007, diseminating toxic financial products all through the world's financial system.
