Abstract
During its long history, a simple model seems to account for successes or failures, artistic and economic, of the Paris Opera House. Mode of governorship, ie the way in which the power is shared within the institution between the State, the director and the personnel provides part of the explanation. This one must be supplemented by factors of environment: intensity of the creation of lyric works and conditions of insertion of the Opera in the econommic and technological environment
