Abstract
The current managerial context demands that people and organizations integrate uncertainty in their daily work. Risk and uncertainty are differentiated on the basis of the possibility of measure: uncertainty is not measurable. The paradoxical reaction to this context is an increasing level of measure – everything is supposed to be or to become measurable – e.g. “auditable”. Such an evolution is potentially dangerous for persons and organizations. Based on an approach to ethics in organizations, we give some practical guidelines on relearning how to operate in uncertainty.
