Abstract
The Web service technology allows access to software components via the Web. In order to take full advantage of Web services, the description of services should incorporate some semantics. This paper presents a contribution to semantic Web services. A Web service is described by its interface, i.e. its goal. We present the formalisation of Web service goals. From this formalisation, we derive a hierarchy of Web services. Finally, we illustrate the application of our approach to Web service discovery.
