Dimension Hierarchies Design from UML Generalizations and Aggregations
Data warehouses are based on a multidmensional representation of data. Hierarchies are a key concept of the multidimensional model, enabling decisions makers to visualize data at various levels of detail. However, the modeling of multidimensional hierarchies is often problematic. This paper presents an approach which derives these hierarchies from UML conceptual schemas, more specifically from UML generalizations and aggreations.
