Biography

Alexandra GATTINO-POLLICOTT graduated as a Doctor in private law from Paris-Dauphine University and is a Paris bar qualified attorney. She had obtained an LL.M. in international commercial law gained with distinction from Northumbria University, Newcastle, U.K., a Master’s degree in communication law and information technologies from Orléans University, France. She initially completed a four-year degree in business law from Paris XI University.   

She  is  specialized  in  intellectual  property  law,  trademarks,  anti-counterfeiting  strategy  and distribution  law  since  2003.  From 2005 to 2006, she started her legal experience at Linklaters Paris, Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson Paris, and as a visiting lecturer at Tilleke & Gibbins law firm in Bangkok before managing her own firm from 2014 to 2018.

Doctor in law since 2011, her  works  handle  the  reinforcement  of  the  fight  against  French  branded  products  illegally manufactured in Thailand and China. She adopted an interdisciplinary approach of intellectual property law in the global economy, linking this issue with related topics such as sociology, religion, economics and political science. Her research was supported by an investigation led on the ground and with interviews of the players of the  fight as  well  as  those  of  counterfeiting,  in  France  (consuming  country)  and  then  in  China  and Thailand (producing countries). The result of this study led to a variety of measures to reinforce the effectiveness of law in the fight against counterfeiting. She was appointed in 2016 as an expert by the French Ministry of Economy to lead a research on the economic impact of counterfeiting to the French companies.

                Working as a legal advisor and then as a Chief Financial Officer at GIMEX INTERNATIONAL (packaging firm) for 7 years,  she  was  in  charge  of  the  legal  and  financial  departments,  human  resources  management  and general administration. She was faced with operational challenges encountered by most SMEs in various sectors in fields such as commerce, innovation and human resources management in an international environment.  

                Since 2012, she is the Academic Director of the Advanced Master’s degree in International Business Law and Management at ESSEC Business School in Paris, ranked 2nd in France in partnership with King’s College London (http://www.essec.fr/programmes/masteres-specialises/droit-des-affaires-internationales-et-management.html).

                In 2016, she has been appointed Adjunct Professor to the Law and Public Policies Department of ESSEC B.S. and then Professor of Management Practice in 2021 where she teaches introduction to business law, international commercial law and organizes intellectual property law in a digital environement courses and seminars in various ESSEC programs such as Global BBA, MBA, Masters and “Grande Ecole” Masters in Management. She is also a student coach, apprenticeship referee and academic thesis director since 2012.

Author  of  various  legal  articles,  she  is  an  expert  at  the  ESSEC  European  Center  of  Law  and Economics  (CEDE),  at the French Association of Doctors in Law (AFDD) and at the European Professional Women Network (EPWN) and Dauphine Alumni network.
