Biography

Linda Benraïs is Professor of Comparative Law and Mediation affiliated with ESSEC, Director of the Governance and Conflict Resolution Programmes at IRENE, and a Research Associate at the London School of Economics and Political Science. In addition to her duties at ESSEC, she is a judge-assessor (UNHCR) at the National Court of Asylum and a mediator at the Court of Appeal of Paris. 

For the past 20 years, she has been involved in expertise, teaching, and research, while at the same time directing programs and coordinating multicultural teams, mainly in the European Union, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Before joining ESSEC, she was a project manager for two years in the European and international affairs department of the Ministry of Justice before founding and then directing for thirteen years the International Legal Cooperation Agency of the Ministry of Justice.

Her expertise, teaching, and publications focus on cooperation, negotiation, governance of justice, human rights and security issues, and conflict resolution.

She holds a doctorate in the comparative public law of the European States, a Master 2 in international economic and development law, and a Master 1 in business law (University of Paris V). She is also a graduate mediator of the Institut Catholique de Paris and an internationally accredited mediator by the CEDR in London.
