Biographie
David Avison est professeur éminent honoraire des systèmes d'informationà l'ESSEC Business School, près de Paris, en France après avoir été Professeurà School of Managementà l'université de Southampton pendant neuf ans. Il a aussi tenu des postesà l'université de Brunel et d'Aston en Angleterre,à l'université de Technologie de Sydney et l'université de New South Wales en Australie et ailleurs. Il est le Président désigné de Association of Information Systems (AIS). Il est le corédacteur du Information Systems Journal chez Blackwell Science maintenant dans son dix-huitième volume, considéré comme un journal international 'fondamental'. Jusqu'à; présent, vingt-cinq livres sontà son actif incluant la quatrième édition de Information Systems Development: Methodologies, Techniques and Tools (écrit conjointement avec Guy Fitzgerald). Il a publié un grand nombre d'articles de recherche dans des journaux scientifiques, des ouvrages et des communications dans des conférences. Il était Président de International Federation of Information Processing (IFIP) 8.2 groupe sur l'impact des SI/TI dans les organisations et associations et est maintenant le vice-président IFIP Technical Committee 8. Il a été dans le passé Président de UK Academy for Information Systems et aussi Président de UK Heads and Professors of IS et est actuellement membre de IS Senior Scholars Forum. Il a été coprésident du comité de programme de la International Conference in Information Systems (ICIS)à Las Vegas (précédemment aussi président du comité de rechercheà Atlanta ICIS), coprésident du comité de programme de la conférence IFIP TC8à Santiago du Chili, président du comité de programme de la conférence IFIP WG8.2à Amsterdam, président du comité d'évaluation pour la European Conference in Information Systemsà Copenhague et président du comité de publicité pour la entity-relationship conferenceà Paris et président de plusieurs autres conférences au Royaume-Uni et en Europe. Il sera coprésident de comité de programme de la conférence IFIP TC8à Milan, Italie en 2008. Il est également consultant et a plus récemment travaillé avec un fabricant important développant leur stratégie SI/TI. Il fait des recherches dans le secteur du développement des systèmes d'information et plus généralement sur des systèmes d'information dans leur cadre organisationnel naturel, en particulier en utilisant la recherche action, quoiqu'il ait aussi utilisé un certain nombre d'autres approches de recherche qualitatives.
